Who is Vickers?

Vickers hydraulics are named after a man considered to be the “Father of Industrial Hydraulics”, Harry Franklin Vickers (1898 – 1977), an American industrialist and inventor from California.

After returning from his time serving in the US Army Signal Corps during WWI, he established the business that became the brand – Vickers Manufacturing Company.

The company, later known as Vickers, Inc., created multiple innovations in fluid power including the first hydraulic power steering system.

In response to their rapid growth in the automotive sector, as well as other industries, the company moved their headquarters to Detroit, and merged with Fisher Body to form the Sperry Corporation and Sperry Vickers, of which Harry Vickers was president.

Many years and many successes later, Vickers was acquired and became part of Eaton’s product holdings in 1999.

Recently acquired by Danfoss, the Vickers brand is continuing to lead the way in the industrial world with a collection of high-quality piston pumps, valves, electro-hydraulic controls, cylinders and filtration products that benefit many manufacturers.
